Workers from Pakistan – when this origin is the right choice

Pakistan is one of the world's largest labour-exporting markets. Hundreds of thousands of people leave each year for contracts in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Oman, mainly in construction, manufacturing, logistics and transport. For a Polish employer that means a very deep pool of candidates who have already worked abroad and know what a multi-year contract away from family involves.

The second advantage is genuine regional specialisation. Faisalabad means textiles, Sialkot surgical instruments and sports goods, Gujranwala and Gujrat metalwork and home appliances, Karachi the port, logistics and heavy industry, while Lahore and Rawalpindi mean construction. Choosing the region really does shape the candidate's professional profile.

We assess candidates on what can be verified: employment history, work certificates from plants and overseas contracts, references, and a practical skills test for technical trades. Industry entitlements – welding, lifting equipment, transport – are completed under Polish rules after arrival.

Formally this route requires the full path: a labour market test, a type A work permit, a national D visa at the Polish Embassy in Islamabad, and Pakistani emigration formalities (BE&OE registration and the Protector of Emigrants stamp). We plan consular slots first, because they set the arrival date.

Benefits

Why companies choose workers from Pakistan

Large-site experience

Candidates from contracts in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar know industrial-scale construction sites: schedules, brigade work, documentation and mandatory safety training.

Technical trades

Welders, fitters, structural erectors, mechanics and electricians with real workshop practice. We verify skills with a practical task, not with a certificate alone.

A very deep candidate pool

Pakistan has over 240 million people and a young demographic structure. For larger orders that means an entire team for one role can be built without quality compromises.

English in documents and trades

English is the language of administration and technical education, and Gulf returnees used it on site. We assess the level in a video interview and describe it in the candidate profile.

Textiles and light industry

Faisalabad and Karachi are huge garment and textile hubs – machine operators, cutting rooms, quality control and packing with years of hands-on practice.

Ethical, licensed recruitment

We work exclusively with promoters licensed in the Pakistani emigration system and apply a zero candidate fee policy.

Qualifications

How we verify candidates from Pakistan

The candidate profile includes employment history from specific plants and overseas contracts, references, scans of certificates and diplomas, an English level assessment and – for technical trades – documentation of a practical skills test.

Work experience

We check which plants and contracts the candidate worked on, for how long and on what equipment. Gulf work certificates are verified with the issuer.

Practical skills test

For welders, fitters and operators we arrange a practical task with photo documentation and assessment before departure, so you know what the candidate can really do.

Documents and identity

Passport, NADRA identity document, school certificates and vocational course records. We sworn-translate and compile them for the voivodeship office and the consulate.

English and video interview

An interview assessing communication, held with your foreman. For larger groups we point out the candidate best suited to act as the language link.

Where we recruit in Pakistan

  • Sialkot and Gujranwala

Surgical instruments, sports goods, metalwork and home appliances. Precision craft, fitters, assemblers and machine-tool operators.

  • Karachi and Sindh

Port, logistics, heavy and shipbuilding industry. Welders, structural erectors, warehouse staff, forklift operators and loading crews.

  • Islamabad, Rawalpindi and KPK

Industries

Where workers from Pakistan perform best

This origin is chosen when you need people for demanding, well-organised work in large teams – construction, manufacturing, warehousing and transport. Gulf contract experience shortens the induction time.

Ask about recruitment

Construction and finishing

The strongest side of this origin. Candidates from sites in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar: structures, formwork, steel fixing, installations and finishing works.

  • Construction worker
  • Formwork carpenter
  • Steel fixer
  • Bricklayer-plasterer
  • Site electrician

Manufacturing and metalwork

The base of Gujranwala, Gujrat and Karachi: welding, structural assembly, machining and maintenance in continuous-process plants.

  • MAG welder
  • TIG welder
  • Fitter
  • Structural erector
  • Machine operator

Textiles and light industry

Faisalabad and Karachi are among the world's largest textile hubs. Machine operators, cutting rooms, quality control and packing with years of practice.

  • Sewing machine operator
  • Cutter
  • Quality controller
  • Packer
  • Fabric warehouse worker

Logistics, warehousing and transport

The port of Karachi and the country's transport corridors are a real base of warehouse staff, forklift operators and professional drivers with international experience.

  • Warehouse worker
  • Forklift operator
  • Order picker
  • Loading crew member
  • C+E driver

Food processing

Cold store, production line and packing work. Candidates know output norms and shift work; halal meal arrangements are worth settling upfront.

  • Production worker
  • Cold store worker
  • Packer
  • Line operator
  • Meat processing worker

If the shortest lead time matters most, Georgia or Uzbekistan will be faster. We choose Pakistan where a large group, construction and industrial experience and multi-year stability count.

Cultural integration

Challenges and proven solutions

Teams from Pakistan work steadily and stay long, but a few things are worth setting up at the start. Below are four that in practice decide whether the first year passes without turnover.

Halal meals and Ramadan

Most workers are Muslim. Access to a kitchen at the accommodation, a halal option in the canteen and accounting for Ramadan and Eid in the schedule are the simplest steps that genuinely build loyalty.

English versus Polish on the floor

English works with management and documentation, but the brigade speaks Polish. Bilingual workstation instructions, safety training with interpretation and a basic Polish course close the distance in the team.

Climate and the first weeks

Polish winter is new to most candidates. A winter clothing pack on arrival and scheduling arrivals outside the coldest weeks genuinely reduce resignations in the first quarter.

Formalities and money transfers

Residence registration, PESEL, a bank account and the residence card application take up the first weeks. Cheap transfers to Pakistan matter too – supporting family at home is the main purpose of the contract for most workers.

Do Pakistani citizens need a work permit in Poland?

Yes. Pakistan is not covered by the simplified declaration procedure, so a type A work permit issued by the voivode is required, followed by a national D visa. We prepare and file the entire documentation on the employer's behalf, including the labour market test where required.

Where does a worker from Pakistan apply for the visa?

Pakistani citizens apply for the Polish national D visa at the Polish Embassy in Islamabad, through its application acceptance point. Appointment slots can be distant, so we book them in parallel with the work permit procedure – this stage usually determines the arrival date.

What is the BE&OE and Protector of Emigrants procedure?

Pakistan regulates the overseas employment of its citizens: only licensed Overseas Employment Promoters may recruit for foreign employers, and before departure the worker must be registered with the Bureau of Emigration & Overseas Employment and receive the Protector of Emigrants stamp in the passport. Without it the airline or border service may refuse boarding. We work only with licensed partners and close this stage before tickets are booked.

How long does it take to bring a worker from Pakistan?

Realistically 4 to 6 months from signing the contract to the first day at work. The type A permit usually takes 30 to 60 days, collecting and translating documents another 3 to 5 weeks, and the longest, least predictable stage is the visa appointment in Islamabad. For larger groups the stages overlap and later batches arrive faster.

Do workers from Pakistan speak English?

English is the language of administration and technical education in Pakistan, and candidates returning from contracts in Saudi Arabia, the UAE or Qatar use it on site and on the shop floor. The level varies – we always assess it in a video interview and describe it in the candidate profile. For larger groups we appoint a foreman who communicates best and acts as the link to management.

What experience do Pakistani candidates have?

Pakistan is one of the world's largest labour-sending countries, so a very large share of candidates have several years of work abroad behind them – on construction sites, in manufacturing, in warehouses or behind the wheel. Shift work, output norms and safety procedures are nothing new to them.

Which industries suit workers from Pakistan?

Construction and finishing works, manufacturing and metalwork, textiles and light industry, warehousing and logistics, food processing and transport. Regional specialisation is very clear: Faisalabad means textiles, Sialkot instruments and sports goods, Gujranwala and Gujrat metalwork and appliances, Karachi the port, logistics and heavy industry.

How do you verify candidate qualifications?

We rely on what can be checked: where and how long the candidate worked, on what equipment, and what the work certificates and references from Gulf contracts confirm. For technical trades we arrange a practical skills test with photo documentation before any hiring decision. Industry entitlements are completed under Polish rules after arrival.

Must a Pakistani worker earn the same as a Polish one?

Yes. Pay and other employment conditions must be no worse than for Polish employees in a comparable role – this is a condition for issuing the work permit and a subject of labour inspection and border guard checks.

Who handles accommodation, transport and team integration?

Accommodation provided by the employer or the agency is the standard. We arrange the flight from Islamabad, Lahore or Karachi, airport transfer, housing that meets sanitary requirements, registration of residence, a PESEL number and a bank account. We also advise on simple cultural points: access to a kitchen, halal meal options, a place to pray and accounting for Ramadan and Eid in the schedule.

Is the recruitment ethical and free of candidate fees?

Yes. We work exclusively with licensed promoters and apply a zero candidate fee policy. On this route it matters especially: a candidate indebted to an intermediary is a real turnover risk in the first months and a reputational problem for the employer.

How much does it cost to employ a worker from Pakistan?

The budget consists of official fees in Poland, the visa and service fee, sworn translations and document legalisation, medical checks and insurance, Pakistani emigration formalities, the flight and relocation, and the agency fee. We prepare the quote for a specific role and headcount – with no hidden items.

How long can a worker from Pakistan be employed?

The type A permit is usually issued for up to three years and can be extended. After arrival the worker may apply for a single permit for residence and work, which secures continuity of employment without leaving Poland.
